BUTTLES STREET BETWEEN STATE AND HALEY TO CLOSE MONDAY
Beginning Monday, August
9, Buttles Street will be
closed from State Street to
Haley Street for
approximately two weeks for storm and sanitary sewer system improvements. A detailed
map showing the construction area and surrounding streets may be accessed
through the Updates web page under the “What’s New” heading on the City of Midland
website (www.midland-mi.org).
Beginning at the intersection
of Buttles and State streets, traffic on the highly traversed roadway will be
rerouted to State, Ellsworth and Haley streets, all of which will be converted
to one-way streets for the duration of the project.
To accommodate
construction, Mill Street
will also be closed from Indian to Ellsworth streets, and Haley
Street will be closed between Indian and Buttles
streets.
Motorists wishing to
travel west when leaving The Dow Chemical Company 47 Building should use Main
Street. Eastbound departing traffic will be
required to use Larkin and Haley streets since northbound State
Street will be closed between Larkin and Ellsworth
streets to reduce potential traffic congestion at the intersection of Ellsworth
and State streets. Motorists headed for the Dow parking lots between Ellsworth
and Larkin streets will need to use State Street
to access those lots.
With the 2004 construction season well underway, motorists
are encouraged to sign up for weekly and last-minute construction updates by
subscribing to City Hall News on the City of Midland
website at www.midland-mi.org under
the “What’s New” heading.
