NEW CITY OF MIDLAND CHIEF INSPECTOR NAMED

 

Effective November 12, Lynn LaBrecque will assume the position of chief inspector in the Building Division of the City of Midland Planning and Community Development Department. 

 

In his new role as chief inspector, LaBrecque will supervise six employees in the Building Division and direct activities to ensure the enforcement of State and local construction codes and the City’s Code of Ordinances and zoning ordinance.

 

LaBrecque replaces current Chief Inspector Jerry Davis who will retire in November after 32 years of service to the City of Midland. Davis began his career with the City of Midland in 1972 as an engineering aide I and has held the positions of engineering draftsman, instrument draftsman, appraiser and building inspector in the city’s Engineering, Assessing and Planning and Community Development departments. Davis was named chief inspector in 2002.

 

LaBrecque joined the City in 1992 as a building inspector. He holds certifications in soil erosion and sedimentation control and storm water management through the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, is independently certified through the International Code Council as a building inspector and is licensed as a building inspector with the State of Michigan.

 

LaBrecque has worked in construction since graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School.   Prior to joining the City, LaBrecque was a building inspector for Isabella County, owned and operated a private construction business and was an industrial arts instructor at DeWitt and Mt. Pleasant high schools.

 

LaBrecque has a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University.
