FINAL PAVING OPERATION CLOSES INTERSECTION OF EASTMAN AVENUE AND COMMERCE DRIVE

Final paving of Eastman Avenue from Joe Mann Boulevard to just north of Commerce Drive originally planned for Thursday, July 15 has been rescheduled for Friday, July 16. To accommodate paving operations, Commerce Drive will be closed at the intersection of Eastman Avenue for several hours on Friday.

Motorists trying to reach businesses on Commerce Drive from Eastman Avenue should instead use the new Elisenal Drive, which runs north and south between Joe Mann Boulevard and Commerce Drive.

Two lanes of traffic will remain open on Eastman Avenue during the paving operation. Motorists are encouraged to drive with extreme caution as construction crews continue to work. It is estimated that all work on the project will be completed by August 1.

With the 2004 construction season well underway, motorists are encouraged to sign up for weekly and last-minute construction updates by subscribing to City Hall News on the City of Midland website at www.midland-mi.org under the e-news heading. Motorists may also check the construction page on the City of Midland website for construction detour maps and details. Look for this on the City of Midland website under the “What’s New” heading.
