COMMUNITY MEETING ON DIOXIN SET FOR MAY 26:

MIDLAND CITIZENS INVITED TO ATTEND

 

With less than a week to go before a Community Meeting on Dioxin in Midland, the City of Midland is again encouraging the citizens of our community to attend this important meeting set for May 26 at 7 p.m. at the Midland Center for the Arts.

 

The topic of this meeting is an upcoming study of dioxin soil contamination in our community that will raise serious issues about Midland citizens’ health and property. The City-sponsored Community Meeting is designed to provide Midland property owners with an opportunity to obtain independent and objective information about the dioxin issue in Midland. A panel of experts will be on hand at the meeting to address some of the most common questions and concerns posed by Midland citizens. Representatives from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, The Dow Chemical Company, the Midland County Health Department and the City of Midland will comprise the panel.

Midland citizens are invited to submit questions and concerns about the proposed soil testing using the methods of communication listed below. Questions and concerns related to the dioxin issue in Midland will be addressed by the panelists attending the meeting.

Following the initial discussion, written questions from the audience will be allowed on a limited basis.
