NEW CITY OF MIDLAND CONTROLLER NAMED

The City of Midland is pleased to announce that Margaret A. Maday has been named controller, effective Monday, October 25.

Maday brings nearly 20 years of governmental accounting experience, having served most recently as budget officer and consultant to the City of Saginaw. As budget officer, Maday managed the annual comprehensive budget and capital improvement plan processes for the City of Saginaw, and performed long-range financial forecasting. Prior to that, Maday worked for 15 years for the County of Saginaw as financial services director, assistant chief accountant and Saginaw Area Growth Alliance financial administrator/analyst.

“Margaret’s experience in supervision, governmental accounting, budgeting, and her familiarity with the City’s accounting software will make her an excellent addition to the City’s Finance Department,” said Director of Fiscal Services David Keenan.

As the City’s controller, Maday will manage the Finance Department, coordinate the preparation of the City’s annual budget document, as well as oversee the City’s budget process during the year.  In addition, she will coordinate year-end accounting procedures and the preparation of the City’s comprehensive annual financial statements.

Maday has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saginaw Valley State University, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University. She is certified in government financial management from the Government Finance Officers Association
