JEFFERSON AVENUE TO BE CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC

STARTING JULY 20

A road widening project on Jefferson Avenue from Joe Mann Blvd. to Broadhead Drive originally set to begin Monday, July 19 will instead start Tuesday, July 20. Jefferson Avenue will be closed to through traffic for just over two months for installation of a water main, storm sewer and sanitary sewer system and street widening to three lanes.

Local residential traffic will be allowed on the street, but all other motorists should use the detour routes of Joe Mann Blvd., Eastman Avenue and Monroe Road for travel to destinations in that section of the city.

An estimated completion date for the project has been set for September 30.

With the 2004 construction season well underway, motorists are encouraged to sign up for weekly and last-minute construction updates by subscribing to City Hall News on the City of Midland website at www.midland-mi.org under the e-news heading. Motorists may also check the construction page on the City of Midland website for construction detour maps and details.
