JEFFERSON
AVENUE TO BE CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC
STARTING JULY 19
Beginning on July 19, Jefferson Avenue from Joe Mann Blvd. to Broadhead Drive will be closed to through traffic for approximately
three months for a road widening project. Local residential traffic will be
allowed on the street, but all other motorists should use the detour routes of Joe Mann Blvd., Eastman Avenue and Monroe Road for travel to
destinations in that section of the city.
Although another road
widening project is currently underway on Eastman Avenue from Joe Mann Blvd. to Commerce Drive, at least two lanes on Eastman will be open for local
traffic before the Jefferson
Avenue
project begins. This will help alleviate heavy traffic flows in the area.
Water main, storm sewer and
sanitary sewer system installation and street reconstruction is
planned for Jefferson
Avenue, and
the road will be widened to five lanes. An estimated completion date for the
project has been set for October 15.
With the 2004 construction
season well underway, motorists are encouraged to sign up for weekly and
last-minute construction updates by subscribing to City Hall News on the City of
Midland website at www.midland-mi.org
under the e-news heading. Motorists may also check the construction page on the
