APPLY NOW FOR THE FALL CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY

The Midland Police Department will host its seventh Citizens Police Academy (CPA) beginning September 8.  This 10-week program offers residents and businesses a firsthand look into the law enforcement operations of the Midland Police Department and serves as a tool to further develop communications between the department and the citizens of Midland County.

Participants in the program will meet each Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Midland Law Enforcement Center, 2727 Rodd St. There is no charge for the program; however, application and acceptance into the program are required.

The CPA is an interactive program covering a variety of police activities including criminal investigations, crime scene processing, patrolling and legal procedures. Participants will also have the opportunity to ride with a patrol officer during his or her shift.

CPA participants must be residents of Midland County and at least 18 years of age. Administrative members of the Midland Police Department will select participants from completed applications. Class size is limited to 30 participants.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, August 27. Applications may be obtained at the Midland Law Enforcement Center or by calling 989-839-4703.  Application forms may also be downloaded from the City of Midland website at www.midland-mi.org under the heading “What’s New.”
