CITY OF MIDLAND FIRE CHIEF ON MEDICAL LEAVE;
CITY APPOINTS ACTING FIRE CHIEF

The City of Midland has named Midland Fire Department Battalion Chief John Haag as interim fire chief while Midland Fire Chief Leonardo Garcia is away on temporary medical leave.

Haag has been with the Midland Fire Department since 1984 and has served as a firefighter, fire truck operator and lieutenant during his tenure. For the past five years, Haag has served as a battalion chief.

Haag will oversee all day-to-day operations of the department in Garcia’s absence.

Garcia expects to return to his fire chief position in March 2005.
