MIDLAND CITIZENS INVITED TO HEAR RESULTS OF EASTMAN AVENUE TRAFFIC STUDY AT DECEMBER 12 COUNCIL
MEETING
Possible
solutions for improving traffic along one of Midland’s
busiest corridors – Eastman Avenue
from Wackerly Street to Commerce
Drive – will be presented to Midland City
Council at a special meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, December 12. City
Council will also discuss a process for public input on the
recommended improvement alternatives.
Traffic
consulting firm DLZ of Michigan, Inc. was hired by Midland City
Council directly following the Community Roundtables held in
January 2005. During the Roundtables, citizens consistently mentioned traffic
along Eastman Avenue in the
Midland Mall area as a significant concern.
DLZ has
studied Eastman Avenue
traffic problems in the mall area since March and has found that specific
problems exist. During the Dec. 12 meeting, the consulting firm will present three
alternatives to improve traffic flow along this portion of the Eastman
Avenue corridor.
Join DLZ and the Midland City Council on Monday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers to
review the traffic study, hear proposed alternatives, and learn about how you
can help determine the best solutions.
The
Council meeting also will be cablecast live on MGTV-5 and available via
streaming video on the City’s website (www.midland-mi.org).
