CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY

PLANNED FOR SPRING 2006

The popular Citizens Police Academy (CPA) that normally runs for ten weeks in the fall will instead take place in the spring of 2006.  In 2007, the program will return to being held during the fall season.

The program offers residents and businesses a firsthand look into the law enforcement operations of the Midland Police Department and serves as a tool to further develop communications between the department and the citizens of Midland County.  Program participants meet on Wednesday evenings at the Midland Law Enforcement Center, 2727 Rodd St. There is no charge for the program; however, application and acceptance into the program are required.

The CPA is an interactive program covering a variety of police activities including criminal investigations, crime scene processing, patrolling and legal procedures. Participants also have the opportunity to ride with a patrol officer during his or her shift.

As spring 2006 approaches, watch the City of Midland website (www.midland-mi.org) and the message board on MGTV, Cable Channel 5 in Midland for information on how to register for the program.
