CITY ASSESSOR’S OFFICE WEB PRESENCE ENHANCED

With the launch of new web pages for the City of Midland Assessor’s Office, it’s now a little easier to find key explanations about how millages work and how property taxes are calculated in Michigan.

Some new features of the Assessor’s Office portion of the City’s website also include:

·        Detailed assessing maps of all sections of the city;

·        Current-year millage rates for local taxing jurisdictions;

·        An explanation of taxable value vs. assessed value of property;

·        A glossary of common tax terms;

·        A calendar of important/common tax dates;

·        Links to helpful brochures relating to property taxes;

·        Links to easy-to-use downloadable and online forms; and

·        Frequently Asked Questions on a variety of tax and property issues of interest to citizens.

Web users can also locate Midland assessment and other property information using an interactive property information site that’s accessible via the City’s website. A quick online search can reveal the current owner, address, property class, assessed value, taxable value, school district, State Equalized Value (SEV), lot size and legal description of most Midland properties.

The City’s website is www.midland-mi.org. Once on the site’s Home Page, look for the Assessor’s Office link to access this new information.
