NOVEMBER 15 LAST DAY TO SUBMIT REQUESTS

FOR PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS

Is there a gravel street you’d like to see paved or a sewer or water improvement that interests you?  If there is a public improvement project such as these that you would like considered, City residents may submit a written request, detailing the project, to the City of Midland Engineering Department, 333 W. Ellsworth, Midland, Mich. 48640.  The request must be postmarked on or by November 15.

Once received, the Engineering Department estimates the cost for each requested project and prioritizes the list according to project feasibility and available funding.  This list is then presented to Midland City Council after the first of the year.  Each project is evaluated and assigned a project priority at a special City Council meeting in January.  Council then determines which projects receive highest priority and allocates funding for the chosen projects in the next fiscal year budget. Construction of approved projects will take place in the 2007-2008 fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2007.

Requests for sidewalk improvements will be received by the City Council in February

2007, and routine street or sidewalk maintenance requests may be submitted to the Engineering Department at any time during the year.
