NOVEMBER 27 MARKS THE BEGINNING OF THE
FINAL ROUND OF FALL LEAF COLLECTION

November 21, 2007 – The City of Midland Department of Public Services will begin its final round of leaf collection on Tuesday, November 27.  Residents should plan to prepare leaves for this final round during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Collection crews will begin in Area B and then proceed through areas C, D and A.

DPS anticipates a heavier than normal final collection due to the late season leaf drop.  As such, it may take crews longer to move through the city than usual.  Residents can track the progress of leaf collection crews by calling the Leaf Collection hotline at 989-837-3405, watching the MGTV-5 message board, or visiting the City of Midland website (www.midland-mi.org).

As each area goes through its final collection, street sweepers will come through to clean up the streets.  Please avoid parking on the streets while crews and sweepers are working in your area.  Residents with leaves remaining after this final collection should place them into kraft paper yard waste bags or bins on their scheduled refuse collection day.  The 25-cent per bag stickers are not required through the end of the yard waste collection season.

Due to possible freezing temperatures, yard waste in yard bins may freeze, which would hamper their removal by collection crews.  Keeping bins in the garage until collection day will help resolve this problem.
