COMPUTER CLASSES AND DEMONSTRATIONS

 

October 5, 2007The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library will offer several events during October and November relating to computer use.

 

COMPUTER CLASSES 

Free hands-on classes will take place in the Conference Room C Computer Lab at the library.  The lab is provided by the Mideastern Michigan Library Cooperative. 

 

Reservations may be made at the Reference Desk or by calling 989-837-3449.  Class size is limited.

 

How to Use a Mouse & Introduction to Windows:  Learn how to use a mouse and basic Microsoft Windows skills. No prerequisites. Reservations required.

·        Tuesday, October 9, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

·        Wednesday, October 10, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

 

Basic Internet Searching:  Travel the information highway with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.  Learn basic Internet navigation and simple search techniques using Google.  Prerequisite: Ability to use a mouse. Reservations required.

·        Thursday, October 11, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

·        Monday, November 5, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

 

The Library Catalog for Beginners:  Save time during your next library visit by learning the basics of how to use the online catalog.  Prerequisite: Ability to use a mouse. Reservations required.

·        Tuesday, October 16, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

 

OTHER PROGRAMS

Downloadable Video to Go:  Watch a demonstration in the Library Lounge on how to download free videos from home on a wide variety of topics (travel, health, food and how-to).  No prerequisite. No reservation required.                                                             

·        Wednesday, October 24, 6:15-7:15 p.m.

 

 

Genealogy Open House:  A librarian and genealogist will be available in the Conference Room C computer lab to answer your specific questions about online genealogy resources, such as Ancestry, Heritage Quest, and Genealogy Bank. No prerequisite.  No reservation required.

·        Thursday, November 1, 2-4 p.m.
