NOVEMBER 1 LAST DAY TO SUBMIT REQUESTS
FOR PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS
September 28,
2007 – Is there a gravel street you’d like to see paved or a
sewer or water improvement that interests you?
If there is a public improvement project such as these that you would
like considered, Midland residents may submit a written request, detailing the
project, to the City of Midland Engineering Department, 333
W. Ellsworth. The request must be
postmarked on or by November 1.
Once received, the Engineering Department
estimates the cost for each requested project and prioritizes the list
according to project feasibility and available funding. The list is then presented to Midland City Council after the first of the
year. Each project is evaluated and
assigned a project priority at a special City Council meeting in January. Council then determines which projects
receive highest priority and allocates funding for the chosen projects in the
next fiscal year budget. Construction of
approved projects will take place in the 2008-2009 fiscal year, which
begins July 1, 2008.
Requests for sidewalk improvements will be
received by the City Council in February 2008, and routine street or
sidewalk maintenance requests may be submitted to the Engineering Department at
any time during the year.
For questions or further information, please
contact the Engineering Department, 989-837-3348.
