WHITTINGTON NAMED ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER FOR HUMAN RESOURCES FOR THE CITY OF MIDLAND

 

November 30, 2007 – City of Midland Human Resources Director Paula Whittington has been named Assistant City Manager for Human Resources, effective December 1.

 

Whittington, a 20-year employee of the City, started her career with the organization as Assistant Personnel Director in 1987.  She moved to the Department of Public Services in 1991 to work part-time as an Administrative Assistant while raising her two children.

 

In 2000, Whittington returned to full-time status as the Assistant Director of Public Services, then, in 2002, was named Human Resources Director for the City.

 

“We are very pleased to announce Paula’s promotion to Assistant City Manager,” said City Manager Jon Lynch.  “Over her 20 years with the City, she has proved to be a valuable asset to the organization, and she brings a variety of skill sets to her new position.”

 

As Assistant City Manager, Whittington will maintain her role as Human Resources Director but take on additional responsibilities such as implementing a new budget process for the organization, providing professional internal consulting and administration for the City’s labor relations and human resources function, and complete special projects as assigned by the City Manager.
