January 4, 2008 – To allow more time to plan
special events, the City of Midland is trying something different this year for
those interested in reserving a picnic shelter at selected parks in Midland. The Parks and Recreation Department will begin
taking reservations in mid-January, as opposed to March, which was the practice
in past years.
Shelters
are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis and fees are non-refundable.
Monday,
January 14, 2008, City of Midland residents only may reserve shelters, in
person, from 7:30 a.m. until
Beginning
Tuesday, January 15, all patrons may reserve shelters by phone or in person at
the Parks and Recreation office located in the Municipal Service Center, 4811
N. Saginaw Road or by calling 989-837-6930 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
Non-refundable
reservation fees for park shelters, which will help fund park maintenance and
equipment, will be charged as follows:
Chippewassee Park $25.00
Unsheltered Areas $15.00
Addition of a Canopy $25.00
Delivery of Picnic Tables $25.00 (up to 10 tables)
Additional Tables $ 3.00 each (if available)
Donors of picnic shelters will be allowed one rent-free use
per year in the shelter that they donated. In addition, in May and June only, daytime
