REMINDER TO TRIM GRASS AND

WEEDS PER CITY’S ORDINANCES

May 9, 2008 – The City of Midland Parks Department would like to remind property owners that the length of grass and weeds in their yards should not exceed a height of 12 inches, according to the City’s Code of Ordinances.  This applies to all vacant and occupied properties.

When an overgrown lot is identified, the property owner is notified by a City inspector and given 10 days to mow the lot.  If the property is not mowed within 10 days of notification, the City will continue the process to have it mowed.  If the City has the lot mowed, the property owner will be charged the cost of the service plus a 10 percent administrative fee.

Some properties may be exempt from enforcement based on location, size of tree growth or lack of development in the area.

Property owners can petition for exemption status or obtain further information from the Parks Department by calling 989-837-6930.
