OPEN HOUSE PLANNED DURING

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK

October 2, 2009 – Fire Prevention Week in Midland is October 4 - 10.  To help emphasize fire safety, the Midland Fire Department will hold its annual Fire Prevention Open House on Saturday, October 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fire Station One, located at 816 E. Haley Street.

During the open house, young and old alike can enjoy refreshments, tour the fire station and view its equipment, learn how to plan for and practice fire escape, and examine fire safety exhibits.  A drawing for a children’s bicycle is planned for the event.

Also during Fire Prevention Week, the Midland Fire Department will join forces with the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association to focus on this year’s theme, “Stay Fire Smart! Don’t Get Burned.”  During this year’s campaign, fire fighters and safety advocates will be reminding residents of simple steps that can be taken to protect life and property from the dangers of home fires.

For questions or further information about the open house or the department’s fire safety initiatives, please contact Fire Station One at 989-837-3410, or visit the fire department’s website at www.midland-mi.org.
