PROPOSED RECREATION PLAN

AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW

October 19, 2009 – A draft Recreation Plan for the city of Midland is now available for review at the Midland Parks and Recreation Office, Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, and online at http://midlandmirecplan.wordpress.com/.

The plan, developed by the City of Midland’s Parks and Recreation Commission, evaluates existing recreation opportunities in the community, reviews public opinion regarding parks and recreation, and proposes a five-year action plan for implementing proposed park improvements and new initiatives.  Once approved, the plan will replace the existing document, which outlines recreation opportunities in Midland; that plan has been in place since it was approved by Midland City Council in June 2004.

Citizens interested in providing input regarding the draft plan may send their comments in writing to Midland City Hall, c/o Karen Murphy, 333 W. Ellsworth St., Midland, MI 48640.  The deadline for submitting comments is Monday, November 30.

The Parks and Recreation Commission will conduct a public hearing on the proposed plan at its Tuesday, December 1 meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall.

For more information on the plan, contact the Department of Public Services at 989-837-6909.
