NEW CURRIE MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE
GREENS SUPERINTENDENT NAMED
February 26, 2010 – The City of Midland is pleased to announce that Jerome Blahnik has joined the Currie Municipal Golf Course staff as greens superintendent, effective February 23.
Blahnik
will oversee maintenance of the grounds at Midland’s only municipal golf course. His duties will include the supervision of
all aspects of turf management, course maintenance, and conditions.
Blahnik comes to the City of Midland from the Grand Haven Golf Club, where he served as superintendent for five years. In that position, he supervised a $3 Million renovation of the course, which has been ranked in the top 1 percent of courses across the nation. Before that, Blahnik was assistant superintendent of The Course at Aberdeen in Valparaiso, Ind., from 2000 to 2005. He also worked as assistant superintendent at the Village Greens Golf Course in Woodridge, Ill., from 1997 to 2000.
“Jerome brings an impressive amount of golf course management experience to Currie,” said City Manager Jon Lynch. “His extensive expertise in turf management will help us bring course conditions to a level that will encourage more golfers to play Currie.”
Blahnik has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Ferris State University, and an associate of applied science in ornamental horticulture.
Blahnik replaces Dave Rossman, who served as
Currie’s superintendent for 23 years.
Rossman took the position of Cemetery Sexton in December 2009, which
created the vacancy at Currie.
