MIDLAND GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE ANNOUNCES FAST PITCH SPRING LEAGUE

January 27, 2012 – Midland Girls Softball League (MGSL), in collaboration with the Midland Parks and Recreation Department, announces spring softball registration.

The MGSL spring season is a six-week (five weeks of league play and one tournament week) recreational league for girls ages 5-15 in Midland and surrounding areas. The league is operated by the MGSL and Midland Parks and Recreation.

All games are played at Sunrise Optimist Park (near the corner of Bay City and Waldo roads). Youth will play on one designated night of the week. Except for opening day and the 8U age group, all games are double headers at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

MGSL spring registration will be held at the following locations, dates and times:

MC Sports (917 Joe Mann Blvd.) Wednesday, February 8 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

MC Sports (917 Joe Mann Blvd.) Wednesday, February 15 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Walk-in and mail-in registrations will also be accepted at the Parks and Recreation Office (4811 N. Saginaw Rd.) from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, beginning Monday, January 30. The last day of spring registration is Friday, February 24. Registration is not guaranteed after this date. Girls will be put on a waiting list and only contacted if needed to complete a team.

Spring play will begin Saturday, April 21 and continue through Thursday, May 24. The Ponytail and Junior MGSL City Tournament will take place May 28 – June 2.

Each girl will be required to provide a copy of her birth certificate. Once this document is on file with us, girls will not be required to provide it each year. Please be sure to black out any social security number(s) listed on the document. Copies can be made for at the Parks and Recreation Office.
